ode to the kam wah pineapple bun

reflux be damned –
that first bite
standing on a hectic
mongkok corner, hot out
of the oil-stained bag,
melts away my
gnawing hunger
like the butter tucked
inside this pillowy bun
crowned by caramelly crust,
is worth every bit
of the ensuing nausea
