Rain

by Lu Yu

Waiting for a shining rain, from now on
surge the first fire
above mountains and fjords
lift up my sleep.
It is the aerial view of stars:
how grand joy overflow the sea crowded by flying fishes;
It is the whale’s breathing exercise in the rain.

pouring each glass of flaming dusk
in the crystal
waiting for a shining rain to exchange lightnings;
deep in forest those trolls stretching their stiff limbs at midnight,
awakened by the rain
we plant our feet into humid marsh in a spring time,
then those old blue miracles wrapped by underground magma.

then they resurrect, all of them,
in the rain.
