Dead Heart

by Namia Akhtar

I bath my soul in the summer rain
To feel the light of its kiss on my face
And to absorb its soothing tune- the spell of love it sings
My flesh feels the summer warmth- the joy it drips
But my heart is numb
It feels not a thing!

I shower my heart with the dew of love
But it does not rejuvenate.

Oh love! Where have you gone?
Give my heart your soul to breathe
For it has died
And only the kiss of your soul can bring it to life.
